Fawkner is a large suburb in northern Melbourne, around 12 km from the city centre, close to Gowrie and Campbellfield. The suburb was first settled at the beginning of the twentieth century, and is named after one of Melbourne's first settlers, John Pascoe Fawkner. There is easy access from Fawkner into the city centre along the Hume Highway.

Fawkner has a friendly atmosphere and a good range of shops and services, with the feel of an urban village. The main cluster of shops, cafés and restaurants is on Bonwick Street, which runs parallel to the Hume Highway. There is also plenty of green space, with three nature reserves.
