A Used Cherokee Melbourne

You might have noticed lately that Hollywood is running out of ideas. The only films that seem to grace the silver screen these days, are remakes and literary adaptations of mega-selling children’s books. Writers are going to the well of creativity and seemingly finding it dry. And so we trudge off to the cinema to see Harry Potter Collects His Pension Vol 2.3 (DISCLAIMER: that may not be a real film).
And it’s not just the moviemakers that seem to have lost their spark. The music industry is awash with second-rate replicants (not that kind Blade Runner fans) and talent show winners (and losers) who we will have all collectively flushed from our minds in six month’s time.
But there is one industry that still seems to have some creative life in it. As the so-called traditional ‘creative industries’ flounder, it’s left to car designers and manufacturers to prove that we still possess some flair and ingenuity. Just look at a 2011 Dodge Nitro, Chrysler 300C or Jeep Wrangler. These are certainly the products of new and fresh ideas.
While film and music may be spent forces (or at least spending heavily), car designers have taken up the baton. The Nitro cruises through the Ascot Vale streets with the confidence and power of a huge summer blockbuster. The 300C has all the elegance and grace of a Mozart symphony and the Wrangler Melbourne is pure rock’n’roll. It seems the children who grew up during the golden ages of film and music have been inspired but they’ve chosen to express themselves through different media. Which, of course, works out well for us behind the wheel but not so much if we’re on our way to the cinema.
Perhaps we’re being too harsh. There is, of course, good music out there. And you can always find at least one sizzling classic at the multi-screen megaplex. You just have to look a little beyond the mainstream. There are some great Aussie-made films coming out all the time. It’s just that with car design and innovation making such leaps and bounds, we’re getting greedy for similar strides in other areas of life. Because a film release can’t hold our attention for as long as a beautifully-designed used Jeep Cherokee in Melbourne, we start to want more.
But there is, perhaps, a cyclical end to this narrative. There are lots of kids lucky enough to be driven in the incredible cars, made by Jeep Melbourne and Dodge in 2011. If they are able to channel just a fraction of the adventure and excitement they find in those cars, maybe one day soon we’ll have some classic cinema back on our screens. It’s about time that someone made a classic road movie isn’t it?
