But what we can know is that tragedies do happen. Nature is a power we can never fully control. We also know that politics and diplomacy can sometimes let us down. But life must go on. We can’t dwell on the negative. Mankind is capable of stunning achievements. Great political movements can happen; incredible feats of engineering can make the world a better place. So when they happen, we should give them as much attention as possible to remind us of what we can do together.
